In November 2012 the UKNFS helped to facilitate an historic video conference between Bournemouth University and the vice chancellors of three Nepali universities (Tribhuvan University, Lumbini Buddhist University, and the Nepal Sanskrit University) and senior officers of a number of other education and healthcare related organisations, and Government of Nepal ministries. The Bournemouth University delegation [including senior representatives from three BU schools, Professor Holger, Dr Ana Adi, and Professor Edwin Van Teijlingen] visit to KTM of February 2013 was the result, with subsequent work to develop MoU’s between BU and the three universities being the result. This has proceeded since that time to a BU Disaster Management team historic workshop, and a set of workshops provided by BU’s Media School in conjunction with the Nepal Press Institute in the spring period of 2014. The video conference would not have been possible without the substantial work and support provided by the Nepal Chapter of the UKNFS in which Chapter Secretary Uttam Bhlon Lama played a significant role in facilitation in conjunction with Chapter President Basanta Adhikari — this support was continued at the time of the UKNFS facilitated visit of the BU team in February 2013 and the subsequent workshops.
